New Learning Objects now available

The latest version of Smart Classrooms' Learning Objects DVD has now been released, with all schools expected to have a copy within the next few days.

Boasting 3,492 learning objects, the resource is much simpler to operate thanks to a more comprehensive and user-friendly search function. Teachers now have the ability to search by year level, curriculum concept, key learning areas and keywords.

The DVD also doubles as an effective professional development resource with interactive video and work units demonstrating how some of the objects could be used in the classroom.

The number of copies your school will receive is determined by your school band.

To ensure simple use it is recommended that the resource's contents should be installed on the school server and onto all Computers for Teachers laptops already in schools (as per instructions provided with the DVD).

Laptops received in Term 4 will already have the Learning Objects installed.

If your school does not receive its copies of the DVD, please email the Learning Place.

September 2009

Access to the DET library at Coorparoo will be closed from 21 September – 1 October 2009

We are currently refurbishing the library space and to complete this work we will be closing the library to visitors over this period.

All normal library services will continue via email, phone or through our website.

School customers will still be dropping off and picking up resources, however we will be using the rear door of the library as access point. Visitor parking spaces 40 and 41 will be signposted as reserved for library visitors over this time.

If staff need to return library resources, please use the trolley in 1st floor Reception area.

For all staff who access the building via the library foyer lift, there may be some disruption to lift access over this time. The floor is being levelled and recarpeted and you may find this access is closed from Monday 21 September to Friday 25 September.

Thank you for your cooperation and we regret any inconvenience this may cause.

Please email your opinion on the updates and suggestions for future improvements so we can build an e-learning environment to suit you and your students' needs.
