Getting started

You will need a Learning Place username and password to participate in online learning courses. Join the Learning Place if you aren't already a member.

Register for a course

Step 1

Find a list of courses

There are several pathways for finding a course to suit your learning needs.

  1. View the Course catalogue and select the course title for further information.
  2. View the Course calendar to see when facilitated courses are being conducted or
  3. Use the find courses function (left side menu under Online learning). This will take you to the Learning Place Administration System (LPAS) database where you can search online.

Register for a course

  1. Depending on the pathway you took to find your course, you should eventually end up in the course record. This is the LPAS database (our Learning Place Administration System).
  2. Select Register at the bottom of the screen. If you aren’t already logged on to the Learning Place you will be prompted to do so when registering for a course.
  3. You should receive an email acknowledging your registration. For facilitated courses - this is a provisional registration which is reviewed by the facilitator. You will receive an email formally accepting your registration.

Facilitate an online course that's already developed and ready to use

Step 1

Apply for a Ready-to-go course

All Education Queensland staff and Affiliates can request a Ready–to–go (RTG) course. To do this:

  1. Browse through the online Course catalogue for a full list of RTG courses.
  2. Find out more information on the course by selecting the course title. A pop-up window will appear in the top right-hand corner of your browser. Select the Ready-to-go course link to view the course record in (LPAS).
  3. Select Register at the bottom of the screen. If you aren’t already logged on to the Learning Place you will be prompted to do so when registering for a course.
  4. You should receive an email acknowledging your registration. You will be able to access your course within two working days.
Step 2

What happens then?

  1. To access the course select Blackboard logon (right of screen under Search)
  2. Need help logging into Blackboard? Follow these steps to get you started.
  3. In Blackboard select your course from My courses - Courses you are teaching to enter that course.
  4. Update/add content through the Control Panel in the course or by using the text editing tools on the pages.
  5. Find out how a course developer can use each section within the Control Panel.
Step 3

Enrol students into your course

Course owners can enrol EQ students (from your own school) by supplying the students EQ ID number. Follow the steps to enrolling your students.
