Course Facilitation

A good online learning facilitator will help the learners experience success in their online course. Although some courses are self-paced (e.g. Writing online courses), others require a facilitator to:

  • Organise the learners into groups and gather email details
  • Ensure learners are kept informed and up to date
  • Engage learners with interesting questions and appropriate feedback
  • Ensure learners keep on track
  • Keep the pace of the course moving through the checkpoints
  • Assess tasks and assessment items and provide consistent accurate marking
  • Provide learners with certification where successfully completed

Mentoring online courses has been developed to help facilitators learn strategies to plan successful online events. It is also a useful course for people who are planning to build an online community.
