Queensland students will soon be given a valuable insight into life in the Australian Defence Force and on the battlefield.

Due to the popularity of previous years' events, the Learning Place has once again organised its ANZAC Day online event – a chance for participants to gain first hand knowledge about the role of our war veterans.

eLearning Branch's Senior Project Officer Rebekah Hermann said the event, running until 6 May 2009, had something for students of all ages with online chats, blogs and a collection of relevant quality assured digital curriculum resources.

'For many of the students this is going to be the first time they have had the chance to communicate with people who have been directly affected by a war,' said Miss Hermann.

Registrations for this year's chat sessions are already at capacity, with more than 110 classes enrolled from across the state.

All schools, registered or not, can still take advantage of the ANZAC resources offered by the Curriculum Exchange and Library Services.

Students can also participate in the ANZAC blogs to share their thoughts and feelings about ANZAC Day.

'It's going to be a real learning experience for everyone and a great way to boost our understanding of ANZAC in particular.'

'This year, we will learn from the experience of three World War II veterans, war historians and various servicemen and women associated with the Australian Defence Force.'
