Challenge 1: Healthy fruit or vegetable cartoon character
Two Mile State School student Hudson Meads won a class workshop with Swamp cartoonist Gary Clark for his cartoon Chuck the Carrot. During the competition, Hudson enjoyed tapping into his creative side and viewing other entries online.
Challenge 2: Newspaper current affairs or political cartoon or caricature
David Roff from St Johns College in Nambour, chose Kevin Rudd as his subject for Challenge 2. The judges thought David captured the likeness of the Prime Minister very well.
Challenge 3: Marine animal or plant avatar
Chloe Sterry’s impressive cartoon Hermy the Crab was chosen by Moreton Bay Environmental education centre as the winning avatar for this challenge. The Year 6 Elanora State School student, who won a class online chat with a marine life expert, had plenty of fun creating her cartoon crustacean.
Challenge 4: Online Cartooning Competition banner design
The banner designed by Year 12 student Kory Kassulke of Cleveland District State High School was chosen as the official 2008 competition banner. Throughout the competition, Kory visited the Project Homepage to check out other students’ entries.
