Now in its ninth year, the prestigious awards are designed to recognise educators who innovate and excel in teaching and learning with ICT. Director of the eLearning Branch, Laurie Campbell said all teachers who have obtained or are working towards their Digital Pedagogy Licence were entitled to enter the awards. 'We know there are many Queensland teachers doing amazing things with digital pedagogy in the classroom,' said Mr Campbell. 'At present we have 1900 licence or Advanced licence holders – every one of these teachers – and those working towards accreditation, are eligible to enter.' Nominations for this year's Smart Classrooms Teacher Awards close at 5pm on 12 June 2009, with the winners set to be announced at a formal event in Brisbane on 07 September 2009. Teachers can nominate themselves or be nominated by colleagues, Principals or Smart Classrooms Mentors for the award. This can be done by completing the nomination form. Nominees must have, or be working towards, their Digital Pedagogy Licence (formerly ICT Pedagogical Licence). The portfolio they put together to obtain their licence will form part of the evidence needed in the award process. Award winners will receive $5000 to use towards attending ICT related professional development, or undertaking research projects or research studies. They will also be invited to attend an intensive two-day Award Winners Master Class in Brisbane on 10-11 September. This Master Class will reflect the winners' level of digital pedagogy and provide extension professional development opportunities.
