The academy is a joint initiative of Microsoft and the Department of Education and Training.
Microsoft Certifications are internationally and industry recognised. Qualifiations are attained by passing one of the Microsoft certification exams.
Years 10 to 12 students gain one Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) credit for each certification exam they pass – up to a maximum of 8.
The academy's courses are available to state high school students and departmental staff.
