Premier's Reading Challenge booklists 2011
This selection of books is intended to whet reading appetites and represents a range of subject matter, genres, authors and fiction and non-fiction. The reading levels targeted within the lists are broad and overlap to reflect the range of ability that exists within year levels (e.g. Many Year 1 students are still consolidating pre-reading skills while others are ready for more challenging texts). Refer to linked reviews for more information on suggested titles.

Prep - Year 1
This list contains picture books that support the development of pre-reading and early reading strategies. Prep to Year 1 students can read independently and/or 'experience' these books. 'Experiencing' a book can include a range of classroom or home activities such as shared reading, listening and reading along with a text, or being read to. A print friendly version (new window 100k

Students, parents/caregivers and/or teachers may choose books from these lists, but are not restricted to books listed for their particular year level. Students may select any suitable books including those on previous years' Premier's Reading Challenge lists.
