Criteria for evaluation

Core evaluation criteria
Applicable to all resources evaluated for Classroom Resource Reviews in addition to the specific criteria for each format.

Format specific criteria:

• Non-fiction resources
• Fiction resources
• Software criteria
  
• Other resources
  Criteria for the evaluation of resources such as multimedia, audio books and kits.
  
• Series
• World Wide Web sites (these are no longer reviewed for CRR)

We do not review the following formats:

Self-published works

• Resources not published by mainstream publishers or those not having mass media support.

Textbooks

• Texts that are set for whole class use or that are frequently reviewed by associations or subject peers.

Activity books

• Classroom specific resources. (e.g. workbooks to guide interactive activity).

Blackline masters

• Readily available, well-known resources that teachers tend to own.

Reading schemes

• Classroom or library-specific resources.

Tertiary/Adult material

• Tertiary or adult material which cannot be easily utilised in Queensland schools.
