Steps in creating an online order file
An ISBN (International Standard Book Number) is a unique 10-digit or 13 digit number that identifies the title and publisher of a book. It is used for ordering and in cataloging mostly books. E.g.1741570506 Monster machines pop-up book. Sometimes non-book items are also published with an ISBN, e.g. 0439565316 I spy: fantasy: brain-building games for kids (a CD-ROM).
An ISSN (International Standard Serial Number) is an eight-digit number that identifies serial publications (magazines, newspapers, newsletters, etc.) as such. An ISSN uniquely identifies a title regardless of the language or country in which it is published. E.g. 0004-9018 Australian economic review.
An ISMN (International Standard Music Number) is a unique ten-character alphanumeric code for the identification of printed music publications. E.g. M051467112 Feel good (a musical score).
An ISBN may appear on all dust jackets, on the back cover of the book (or container for a music cd), and on the copyright page
Using this list of citations for new resources typically received by a primary school library, create an online order file and download it onto a local drive in preparation for importing into your school library system.
