Role of Teacher-librarian

Information about the role of the Teacher-Librarian is available on the Education Queensland Intranet site. Access to the EQ Intranet is available to staff in schools.

Education Queensland profiles the role of a Teacher-Librarian through the Position Description and Standard Work Profile, Teacher Librarian (Band 1, 2 or 3) (new window 57k, Microsoft® Word document only available to DETA networked computers). The work profile can be discussed and adapted at school level. This process is under the direction of the Principal and may involve consultation with the school community.

Schools may also refer to 'The Role of the Teacher-Librarian in Primary Schools' and 'The Role of the Teacher-Librarian in Secondary Schools' when shaping a school-based Teacher-Librarian work profile. These statements were published in the Queensland Education Office Gazette in 1986 and 1988.

More general information about the role of Teacher-librarians is available from related professional organisations and community websites.
