The Library may obtain books and journal articles from other Australian Library collections on Interlibrary Loan when they are not held in the collections of the department's libraries. Charges may apply.
DETA staff serving the Education Portfolio located at Central office and District offices are eligible to request interlibrary loans.
Eligible Officers may request by completing the Interlibrary loan request form.
Please provide as much details as possible. For books provide the authors full name, title of the book, publisher, date of publication and ISBN. For journal articles provide the journal title, volume number, issue number, ISSN, date, page numbers, author's name and article title.
You may also post or fax your request.
Library Services provides a document delivery service that allows requested journal articles to be supplied in electronic format direct to your desktop. Document delivery services are offered to Central office, District offices and DSSU staff.
A request for a photocopy must be made in accordance with the Australian Copyright Act, 1968. Under the Act libraries are authorised to supply a photocopy as long as the copy is not used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship or research and that the amount that is copied is in accordance with copying limits laid down by the Act.
These 'fair dealing' limits are as follows:
The Library reserves the right to refuse to accept a request for a copy if it believes that fulfilling the request would involve infringing copyright law.
If you are requesting a photocopied article you will be asked to sign the user declaration on the Interlibrary loan request form when you submit your request. When you sign the User Declaration you are declaring that the copy is for research and study and will not be used for any other purpose and that you have not previously been supplied with a copy of the item.
Non-urgent requests take between five and ten working days.
Urgent requests take between 24 and 72 hours. (Extra charges apply). Delivery is dependent upon a number of factors, including the accuracy of the details provided, location of the supplier, availability, and postage time. It is impossible to guarantee a time of delivery for items requested.
If the standard processing time has passed and we have not contacted you, please contact the Interlibrary Loans Officer to enquire about your request.
Books are usually delivered to you in the post. Copies of journal articles will be electronically delivered to your computer through document delivery services or by post or fax.
Books may be borrowed for four to eight weeks depending on the policy of the lending library. Photocopies are for you to keep.
The Interlibrary Loans Officer is located at the Coorparoo Education Precinct.
