This selection of books is intended to whet reading appetites and represents a range of subject matter, genres, authors and fiction and non-fiction. The reading levels targeted within the lists are broad and overlap to reflect the range of ability that exists within year levels (for example, Many Year 1 students are still consolidating pre-reading skills while others are ready for more challenging texts). The Little Big Book Club
is an early literacy program for 0-5 year olds. Both projects are promoted through public libraries by the State Library of Queensland in partnership with The Courier-Mail and The Big Book Club Inc. The Little Big Book Club website includes an extensive list of suggested reading material for children of all ages.
