Literacy and numeracy - Parent resources > Literacy and numeracy at school >

Years 11-12

The literacy and numeracy work students do in Years 11-12 relates more to a specific context across a broad range of work and study options.

Students create imaginative and analytical texts as well as responses for both public audiences and persuasive texts. They have opportunities to engage with a diverse range of literary and non-literary texts to help them develop a sense of themselves, their world and their place in it. They use their numeracy skills to analyse, generalise and translate information into mathematically workable formats. They explore and solve increasingly complex and sophisticated mathematical problems through observation, reflection and logical reasoning.

In order to obtain a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE), your teenager will need to meet the required Queensland Curriculum & Assessment Authority (QCAA) literacy and numeracy standards outlined at the QCE literacy and numeracy requirements External Link website.

If you have any questions or concerns about your teenager's level of literacy or numeracy you should contact their teacher.
