Overseas Student Health Cover

The Australian Government requires all international students on student visas to have Overseas Student Health Cover ( OSHC ) for the duration of their studies. This allows access to doctors and a shared ward in a public (government) hospital. Education Queensland International must receive the initial OSHC fee before we can forward a confirmation of enrolment. Students are required to pay the OSHC fee for the duration of their course when enrolling with EQ. Students and their families should ensure they are fully aware of the basic medical and hospital services covered by this insurance. Any additional cover required can be organised through the health insurance provider.

EQI arranges OSHC cover for international students with Medibank Private. Upon payment of fees, Medibank Private issues the student's membership card soon after his/her arrival in Queensland.
