High School Preparation

Education Queensland's High School Preparation (HSP) program is an intensive English language program designed to prepare international students for Queensland high school studies and is undertaken prior to commencing high school.

HSP provides international students with an opportunity to practise English communication skills and learn the vocabulary used in high school subjects, such as Science, Mathematics, English, Technology and the Arts.

Through interaction with Australian high school students and direct access to qualified high school teachers, students not only develop their language skills but are also much more likely to develop the learning skills necessary for success in high school and tertiary studies.

HSP Course Assessment

HSP course assessment is similar to assessment in high school classes. These consist of essays, reports, oral tasks and research assignments.

Students are rated according to the Australian benchmark of NLLIA Bandscales (National Languages and Literacy Institute of Australia) at the end of their course to determine their level of English language proficiency. If students successfully complete this program they are able to commence their High Schooling Program.
