On request, schools can organise for students to be met at the airport and taken to their homestay accommodation or school on initial arrival to commence a course of study. This service is provided to students free of charge.
Our ESL program aims to develop a student's language skills to enable them to participate fully in mainstream classrooms and to enhance their learning outcomes. Students have access to qualified and experienced teachers that are trained in ESL methodology. This support is offered to students enrolled in the Junior and Senior High School Programs (see EQI Schools List).
Specialist guidance officers located in each school assist students with subject selection, tertiary entrance procedures and are also available to provide counselling and advice on personal matters.
Our schools conduct comprehensive orientation programs for all international students to ensure that students become familiar with Education Queensland's policies and guidelines, the school grounds and facilities, and are made to feel welcome in the school community.
Each school has an International Student Coordinator who is responsible for the overall coordination of International Student Programs at school. International Student Coordinators are the first point of contact for students for all general enquiries once the student has enrolled in school.
Some schools have a homestay coordinator who is responsible for the overall coordination of homestay management at school. While in other schools this role is performed by the international student coordinator. Homestay coordinators are the first point of contact for all homestay enquiries once a student has enrolled in school.
