Queensland Education Leadership Institute

The Queensland Education Leadership Institute (QELI) is an innovative and landmark venture by Queensland's three schooling sectors to equip school leaders with the skills and training they need to help drive major education reforms.

Established as a not-for-profit organisation in June 2010, QELI is owned jointly by the Department of Education and Training, Queensland Catholic Education Commission and Independent Schools Queensland.

It was officially launched by Queensland Premier Anna Bligh and Education and Training Minister Geoff Wilson on 25 August 2010.

The institute's vision is to support education leaders to make a difference through access to innovative and quality leadership programs and services.

It will work in close collaboration with universities and other education and research organisations including the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership, to ensure the programs offered are at an internationally recognised standard.

The institute is governed by an independent Board of Directors. The directors bring diverse professional experiences in education and educational research, school leadership, corporate governance, business development and financial management.
