The national minimum standard measures in the domains, Reading, Writing, Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar, and Numeracy were used to determine this improvement.
With up to 20 NAPLAN test result areas, there are a number of ways to identify improved school performance. The following schools have been identified as showing demonstrated overall improvement in their performance using the national minimum standard results. Schools must have had results that were statistically significantly higher than their 2008 results in at least one in five of the domains tested, and the 2009 results in the other domains were at least statistically similar to the 2008 results. The size and nature of improvement across up to 20 test result areas will vary school to school.
Schools with a cohort size less than five students in the tests were excluded due to the potential volatility in their results from one year to the next.
