Three reform initiatives

The Literacy and Numeracy Partnership Agreement is arranged as actions under three reform initiatives:

  1. Strong leadership - effective teams
    • Focus and renewal of curriculum leadership to strengthen capacity to improve literacy and numeracy outcomes for students.

  2. High expectations - focused teaching
    • Support teachers through literacy/numeracy coaches and quality professional development.

  3. Differentiated intervention - improved learning
    • Assess and monitor student progress in literacy and numeracy achievement, develop coordinated intervention programs to support diverse learning styles and needs.

These three reform initiatives focus on building capacity over a number of years. While the focus is on literacy and numeracy, this National Partnership is also building the capacity of school communities to support continual improvement and the implementation of the Australian curriculum.
