Year of Physical Activity
In 2008, Queensland state primary and secondary school students will exercise their bodies as well as their brains when they celebrate the Year of Physical Activity.

The Department of Education, Training and the Arts, is committed to protecting students from the harmful effects of the sun. Sun Safety in Secondary Schools Guidelines have been developed to inform individual school sun safety strategies.
New anaphylaxis guidelines for schools
The Interim Anaphylaxis Guidelines for Queensland Schools provide specific information on how to manage and treat students with anaphylaxis
Education Laws for the Future
The new Education (General Provisions) Act 2006 was passed by Parliament on 8 August 2006. The Act provides the legislative basis for a range of recent significant initiatives in education, including the universal availability of the Preparatory Year in 2007, an increase in the compulsory school age in 2008, changes to schools reporting requirements and the exchange of consistent student information across all schools.
Education Scholarships
Scholarship information from the Department of Education, Training and the Arts includes teaching scholarships, TJ Ryan Medal, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander teaching scholarships and more.
Queensland's high achieving students are encouraged to apply to attend the Queensland Academies in 2009. The Queensland Government has developed three world-class academies to offer outstanding students the opportunity to focus on science, mathematics and technology, creative industries or health sciences.
Queensland students are encouraged to participate in the 2008 Crime Stoppers Youth Challenge
. This year's Challenge is open to all Queensland Year 6 to 12 students, including those who are home schooled. Registrations close 30 June 2008. Can you meet the challenge to stop arson?
