Next Step Destination Surveys

Next Step Survey

Next Step is the Queensland Government's statewide survey of every student who completed Year 12 during the previous year in Queensland at government and non-government schools. The survey collects information about the initial study and employment destinations of young people after leaving school.

Results of the 2011 Next Step survey are available in a comprehensive statewide report and ten regional reports.

Early School Leavers Survey

The Early School Leavers survey is the Queensland Government's statewide survey on the destinations of students who left Queensland schools prior to completing Year 12 at government and non-government schools. The survey collects information about the initial study and employment destinations of young people after leaving school.

Results of the 2010 Early School Leavers survey are available in a comprehensive statewide report.

In 2011, the Next Step and Early School Leavers surveys incorporated a referral service to support young people in finding education, training or employment.

Next Step and Early School Leavers Longitudinal Studies

The Next Step and Early School Leavers Longitudinal Studies are Australia's most comprehensive post-school destination studies which provide an understanding of the term social and economic outcomes of the educational system.

The Next Step Longitudinal 2009 report is the third report on the findings of the Next Step Longitudinal study. The first results from the Early School Leavers Longitudinal study will be available in 2012.
