During Semester Two 2007, the Department delivered the first release from OneSchool. Release One, which was originally titled the Entree, was designed in accordance with the principles of OneSchool. In particular the principles of:
ensuring a consistent experience for staff members anywhere, any time access for staff members providing the capability for self-service.
Guiding Coalition schools, were given the opportunity to participate in the technical trial of Release One which occurred in 2007. Schools in the technical trial provided valuable feedback and suggestions to ensure Release One met the needs of schools.
Release One is clearly focused on students and is an introduction to the concept of a shared student record. Release One will deliver the initial building blocks for a shared student record around student behaviour (positive and negative), assessment, attendance, extra-curricular activities, record of contact with parents/guardians, student contact details, and career aspirations.
Release One was designed and built in-house by members of the Department's OneSchool development team. Strict security protocols have been implemented to ensure only those users who have a right to access data within the OneSchool application can. For example the breadth of information a principal can view, edit and record is different to the information a classroom teacher can view, edit and record.
Release One is being deployed to all Queensland state schools during 2008. Twenty-six District Liaison Officers (DLOs) have been appointed to facilitate the deployment of Release One during 2008.
Feedback from schools (new window) 195k
during the technical trial and currently during the state wide deployment of OneSchool Release One has been very positive. Teachers and principals have commented favourably on the functionality, ease of use and support provided by the DLOs and OneSchool team members.
Previews of Release One can be accessed via the video tutorials and simulated learnings in multimedia help.
