When will Release Two: Timetabling be available?

Guiding Coalition members piloted Release Two: Timetabling functionality from May 2010. The functionality was deployed to all state schools during Semester 2, 2010. All schools developed their future (2011) timetable using the OneSchool functionality during semester 2.

What will Release Two: Timetabling do?

With Release Two: Timetabling, schools will be able to develop timetables for students and teachers, facilities, support staff (e.g. teacher aides), and manage daily supervisions. Schools will be able to create rosters for playground and bus duties. Primary schools will be able to choose to timetable only specialist lessons (Art, Music, PE, LOTE, assembly, form class, etc.) and enable their teachers to timetable other learning areas/subjects to meet their and their students' needs.

Will I still be able to use TimeChart?

No, TimeChart will not be able to be used in Queensland state schools. TimeChart is directly linked to SMS. When Release Three is deployed in 2011, SMS willl not be used. OneSchool Timetabling is required for configuring reporting periods, curriculum periods and, when Release Three is deployed, a number of finance and student management processes. TimeChart and TimeChart Extra will not interface with OneSchool.

Do I have to use OneSchool Timetabling?

Release Two: Timetabling functionality is a vital component of the OneSchool application. Configuring reporting and curriculum periods, and managing student enrolment and attendance are directly dependant on the school's timetable constructed in OneSchool.

I don't use TimeChart to timetable so why do I have to use OneSchool Timetabling?

Configuring reporting and curriculum periods, and recording and managing student enrolment and attendance are directly dependant on the school timetable you construct in OneSchool. Information from the timetable will directly populate fields and reduce some of the previously required configuration. For example by creating a timetable, you will not have to create a curriculum period.

Who will be able to access the Timetable?

As with all OneSchool functionality, different users will be able to perform different tasks in the functionality. A staff member's user access will determine if and what they can view, create or edit.

Will there be standardised subject codes?

Yes, subject codes will be standardised throughout the state.

Was there a pilot of the timetabling functionality?

A small pilot of the timetabling functionality, with a restricted number of participants, began in May 2010. An Expression of Interest to participate in the pilot was sent to members of the OneSchool Guiding Coalition on 8 February.

Was training to use the new functionality provided?

Training was provided to schools during Semester 2, 2010.
