Guiding Coalition

In April 2006, an ICTs Leaders' conference was held at the Gold Coast. The goal of the conference was to enrol, engage and enable 158 Queensland principals in the OneSchool vision. The establishment of the Guiding Coalition of principals is a key component in the change management processes for the implementation of OneSchool. Guiding Coalition members play a key role in the OneSchool implementation strategy by engaging with other school leaders in their cluster, district and region and by leading the change.

The then 10 Regional Executive Directors considered geography, school type and size as well as ICT readiness when nominating the representatives from their regions.

Members of the OneSchool project team were designated as key contacts for each region and members of the Guiding Coalition. Project team members visited all the schools at which Guiding Coalition members were based. These visits ensured the OneSchool team had current state information in relation to existing infrastructure and workforce readiness.

The team members organise regional meetings with the Guiding Coalition members to provide updates on the project, demonstrate OneSchool releases and gather feedback around future OneSchool functional requirements. They also present at Principal meetings, state and regional conferences, and to other stakeholder groups.

Members of the Guiding Coalition participated in the technical trial of OneSchool Release One in Semester 2 2007 and the pilot of Release Two during Terms 2 and 3 in 2009. They also were offered the opportunity to participate in the pilot of Release Two: Timetabling from May 2010.

Members of the Guiding Coalition, together with their regional leaders, will drive the implementation of Release Two functionality in schools in their cluster, district and region.
