The OneSchool program is a major initiative with impacts across the Department. Stakeholder involvement in all phases of the program is critical to developing the best possible solution.
The tender evaluation, which was closed late in 2006, involved a range of subject matter experts with school and Education Queensland experience. These Evaluation Team members were engaged as a result of an Expression of Interest process.
The tender evaluation process followed a range of activities involving stakeholders in the development of specifications outlined in the request for tenders. The activities included:
1. Information sessions and workshops at:
the Gold Coast with schools from Gold Coast North and South Districts Brisbane North with schools from Murrumba, Stafford and Geebung Districts North Queensland with schools from Cairns, Cape and Tablelands-Johnstone Districts Charleville with schools from the outer Roma District Toowoomba with schools from the Darling Downs and Toowoomba Districts Mount Isa with local schools.
2. Consultations with stakeholder groups including:
the Queensland Registrars Association the Queensland Teachers' Union, the Queensland Public Sector Association and the Miscellaneous Workers Union specialists in the curriculum cycle, library management, timetabling and students with special needs.
After the closure of the tender process, it was decided the OneSchool program would follow an incremental build process with each successive release adding more functionality as the business imperatives driving the Department to pursue an integrated solution still remained.
Consultations with stakeholder groups have been actively sought during this process as input from stakeholder groups will continue to inform the requirements and scope of each OneSchool release. This includes the Guiding Coalition who provides valuable feedback and information.
Regular presentations have been made to stakeholder groups including, Queensland Association of State School Principals, Queensland Secondary Principals, Queensland Council of Parents and Citizens' Association, Isolated Children's Parents Association, Queensland Teachers Union, regional, district and cluster principal conferences, state and regional Business Services Managers Associations, and corporate directorates. These presentations have afforded these key stakeholders with current state information and demonstrations, and provided opportunities for discussion and feedback.
