New state schools

The department is delivering new state schools in high-growth residential areas to meet the needs of Queensland communities.

Our new state schools give young people a world-class education with exceptional teachers, in modern high-quality learning environments.

New schools opened in 2012

Brightwater State School is a primary school for Prep to Year 7 students located on Brightwater Boulevard in the Bundilla/Mountain Creek area of the Sunshine Coast.

Murrumba Downs Secondary College is a high school which opened to Year 7 and 8 students in 2012 and expand to Years 7-12 in 2016. It's the first school in Queensland to trial the Year 7 move to high school, and is located on Good Fellows Road, Murrumba Downs.

Mango Hill State School is a primary school for Prep to Year 7 students. It's located on Bonnet Parade, Mango Hill, on Brisbane's northern outskirts.
