Home Education Advisory Committee (HEAC)

HEAC is a committee whose role is to provide feedback to the Director-General, Department of Education and Training, about the operation of home education under the Education (General Provisions) Act 2006. It assists in the provision of data and information on any policy or operational issues impacting on the home education sector and it provides a forum to consult with stakeholders on potential future directions and trends for the provision of home education.

The committee currently consists of:

• the Assistant Director-General of Non State and Tertiary Education
• the Director of Regulatory Services
• the Manager of the Home Education Unit
• three parent representatives with children registered for home education
• an Education Queensland representative
• two community members with an interest in the welfare and education of young persons.

The committee meets at least two times per year.
