DG's View 2010

August-September:
The significance of the establishment of the Queensland Education Leadership Institute (QELI) cannot be underestimated. Launched at a Parliament House breakfast on August 25 by Premier Anna Bligh and Minister Wilson, QELI promises to lay the foundations for a new generation of skilled, visionary leaders for our 21st century schools.

July:
The consultation period on A Flying Start for Queensland Children has now ended, and I'm proud to look back on a truly comprehensive statewide program to garner public feedback.

June:
State Education Week is surely one of the jewels in the crown of the department's calendar, with its focus on schools from so many different positive angles.

May:
Two major developments on the education agenda are currently touring the state. Public forums on the A Flying Start for Queensland Children discussion paper continue to be well-attended and well-received.

April:
It seems apt that in the Department of Education and Training's Year of Environmental Sustainability, wider attention should turn to population growth.

March:
Recently there has been regular media coverage of the separate but related issues of bullying and violence in schools.

February:
With school well and truly underway we can turn our attention to the big year ahead. In 2010, we will continue to work towards our vision for a clever, skilled and creative Queensland, with an even stronger focus on the department's seven key priorities and initiatives.

January:
A new year brings changes, new faces and renewed focus, and 2010 is no different.
