Forums focus on national curriculum

April 2009

Principals and deputy principals are invited to attend the Queensland Studies Authority's free 2009 Principals Forums running from April to June across Queensland.

This year the major focus of the forums is the transition to a national curriculum, with two concurrent breakout sessions to follow the main presentation.

Main presentation: Transition to a national curriculum
This presentation will outline how the QSA is aligning its products and services with national perspectives and working to influence the national agenda in the best interests of Queensland schools and students.

Breakout session 1: School leadership, accountability and transparency
Participants will receive valuable insight into the role of assessment and data analysis in the teaching-learning cycle and guidance on techniques for presenting data to school communities and using this data to improve school performance outcomes.

Breakout session 2: Building on the Queensland Certificate of Education
This session will explore key issues facing schools and principals relating to the QCE, including how schools and the QSA can work together to increase the number of students eligible for a QCE and improve outcomes for all students.
