Students from Kelvin Grove State College's Queensland Dance School of Excellence strike a pose ahead of their performance with the Paris Opera Ballet last week.

It was an experience of a lifetime for more than a dozen Queensland ballet students, including six from Kelvin Grove State College, when they rehearsed and performed with dancers from the world's oldest ballet company.

The Kelvin Grove students, all from the school's Queensland Dance School of Excellence (QDSE), were among a group of young ballet students invited to dance with the Paris Opera Ballet at Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) in Brisbane.

The Paris Opera Ballet, the world's oldest and most influential ballet company with a history dating back to 1661, was in town to perform Rudolf Nureyev's La Bayadere from June 20 to July 4.

QPAC chief executive John Kotzas said the production was a major success with all 25,000 tickets being sold.

'The talent and skill of the dancers reached beyond the spectacle of the production to captivate the audience,' Mr Kotzas said.
