Round of applause for school music talent
13 July 2009

A scene from this year's Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Instrumental Music gala concert.
The quality of Education Queensland's instrumental music program rang loud and clear when 77 of our finest young musicians performed in the Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Instrumental Music gala concert.
Held at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre Concert Hall on July 2, the concert showcased the enormous musical talent that exists in Queensland state schools - talent nurtured through Education Queensland's internationally renowned instrumental music program.
The young musicians from throughout Queensland were chosen for their outstanding musical ability from 274 students who applied for a place in the program.
They had in most cases, never met, let alone performed together, until 12 days earlier when they gathered in Brisbane to take part in an intensive residential program.
There they took part in ensemble rehearsals, musicianship lessons, chamber music sessions and tutorials with conductors, tutors and teachers who are experts in their field.
