A+ for 100 blood donations

MARCH 2009

A Department of Education, Training and the Arts employee is doing her bit to help those in need, recently making her 100th blood donation.

Anne Rostedt recently gave blood for the 100th time

Making her mark...facilities services officer Anne Rostedt recently gave blood for the 100th time.

Central office facilities services officer Anne Rostedt began donating blood in the early 1980s around the time she joined the department.

She said she used to give whole blood donations every 12 months, but for the past few years has donated plasma every two weeks.

'I just like to know I'm helping out in some way,' Ms Rostedt said.

'I'm also A negative which is a rather rare blood type.'

Ms Rostedt encouraged others to make regular blood donations.

'The blood bank is always desperate to get new donors,' she said.

'It's good to know you are helping others such as babies having surgery, those suffering long-term illness and those undergoing surgery.

'It's also good to know you can help people who suffer horrific burns like the Bali bomb victims and those down south who went through the bushfires.'
