In the future
MARCH 2009
Schooling in Australia has a new blueprint for the future with the release of the Melbourne Declaration on Educational Goals for Young Australians.
Launched by Australia's education ministers late last year, the declaration sets out a vision for the education of young Australians over the next decade. It supersedes the Adelaide Declaration of 1999.
The Melbourne Declaration sets two educational goals for the next 10 years: that Australian schooling will promote equity and excellence and that all young Australians will become successful learners, confident and creative individuals and active and informed citizens.
A copy of the declaration and the draft action plan are available on the MCEETYA
website.
