Time to vote for Queensland icons

Shortlisted... Is former Caloundra State High School student Steve Irwin one of Queensland's top 150 icons?
Current state school students are being urged to have their say in selecting Queensland's top 150 icons.
Former Queensland state school students Grant Hackett and Steve Irwin are among the 300 shortlisted icons.
Olympic swimming great Hackett spent his secondary years at Merrimac State High School on the Gold Coast while the late crocodile hunter Steve Irwin caught the bus from Landsborough to attend classes at Caloundra State High School.
Teachers are asked to encourage their students to vote now if they want to have their say on which Queensland icons should be on the final list of Q150 Icons announced later this year as part of the state's 150th anniversary celebrations.
Queenslanders can make their choice from the shortlist across 10 categories under the theme of people, places and stories.
Other shortlist icon hopefuls include Captain Cook, Qantas, Fraser Island, Cathy Freeman and the State of Origin.
There's also Powderfinger, Eddie Mabo, backyard barbecues, Min Min lights, Michael Voss, Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith, Riverfire and the Daintree Rainforest.

The top 150 Queensland icons will be announced during Queensland Week (6-13 June).
