Nominations open for national teaching awards
MARCH 2009
Nominations are open to celebrate the work of outstanding teachers, principals, support staff and schools at the Australian Awards for Teaching Excellence.
The awards will be presented by Federal Education Minister Julia Gillard at a ceremony in the Great Hall, Parliament House, Canberra, in October in association with World Teachers Day.
More than $1 million in prize money is on offer in 64 awards across the teaching profession.
The awards pay tribute to the contribution teachers and principals make to the lives of their students from early childhood through to senior secondary schooling.
They support the Council of Australian Government's reform agenda to promote quality teaching and effective school leadership so that every Australian child receives a world-class education.
Nominations can be made online at the Teaching Australia Website
by June 19 2009.
