Students make a move for Youth Week

MARCH 2009

Students from across Queensland are invited to join in the spirit of Youth Week 2009 by entering the Make a Move online creative competition.

The competition lets young people aged 12 and above have their say on issues that affect them, from health concerns such as body image or depression, or social issues such as homelessness, bullying or peer pressure.

Alternatively, they can create an entry that expresses their ideas for a better community such as saving the environment, or volunteering to make a difference.

The competition also links with the Department of Education, Training and the Arts' Year of Creativity. It gives students the chance to explore and develop their creative skills in animation, audio, design, film, interactive media, photography, visual arts and writing.

Entries will form an online gallery, showcasing young Queenslanders' talents and ideas to the wider community. A range of prizes is also available. Entries close May 1.

Youth Week is organised by the Department of Communities and is held from March 28 to April 5.

The week will be launched at the State Library Gallery on March 28 followed by a host of events throughout the state. For more details visit the Department of Communities - Youth external page (will open in a new window) website.
