Dressed for success... Experts say play gives children skills for the future.

How do we ensure kindergarten children are prepared for success in a global world?

Let them play, says Kathy Hirsh-Pasek, who will join some of the world's foremost early childhood experts in Brisbane next month to discuss early childhood education.

Ponds, puddles and water treatment plants - Who has input into early education? is on at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre from May 30-31. The conference will focus on curriculum in early childhood and the collaboration between parents, staff and children of individual centres.

Dr Hirsh-Pasek, co-author of A mandate for playful learning in preschool, believes it's time to return play to its rightful place.

'Resurrecting play provides children with strong skills needed for school and also ensures that the next generation will have the right skills to succeed on the world stage,' Dr Hirsh-Pasek said.
