HRMIS Executive Director Rob Mander is overseeing the MyHR Solution which will use the latest technology to streamline HR processes and reduce paperwork.

A major Department of Education and Training (DET) project is set to revolutionise the way human resource (HR) services are delivered in schools and offices by delivering an integrated and web-enabled business and technical solution known as MyHR.

DET's HRMIS Executive Director Rob Mander said the MyHR Solution would significantly improve service delivery by using the latest technology to streamline processes and reduce paperwork.

'We produce more than 100,000 payment summaries each year and every one of those employees will be affected, and will benefit, from this project,' Mr Mander said.

'Thanks to the MyHR Solution, principals will have greater flexibility to make HR decisions at a local level with more accurate and timely staffing information at their fingertips.'

Mr Mander said the MyHR Solution encompasses a broad range of HR services including payroll, establishment management, recruitment, appointments, workplace health and safety, performance, capability and reporting.

'Principals and managers will have online access to a suite of HR reports which include employee leave history, staff turnover, unscheduled absences and recreation leave balances,' he said.

'Recruitment and appointments will also move online so managers will be able to process and manage their recruitment activities electronically.

'Currently we are processing about one million leave applications a year so we're automating leave, casual claims and roster variations to reduce paperwork.

'Employees will also access their payslips online, apply for leave electronically and update their address and other basic information online.'

Mr Mander said the changes would free HR staff from operational tasks so they could better support schools and their work.

'Recruitment and payroll are services we need to provide but in some instances it needs to occur behind the scenes,' he said.

'We want to start working on some of the more strategic issues the department is facing such as improving student outcomes and fostering a performance culture.

'With the MyHR Solution, we'll be able to focus on delivering some of the other activities we sometimes don't do as well as we could because we're answering a payroll or transfer enquiry.'

Mr Mander said the MyHR Solution was being rolled out in stages and all staff are expected to be able to access the system over the next 18 months.
