Day for Daniel promotes personal safety

06 October 2009

Schools are reminded that October 30 is Day for Daniel, a national day for promoting child safety awareness, and schools are invited to join in by hosting an activity.

Day for Daniel is organised by the Daniel Morcombe Foundation, established by Denise and Bruce Morcombe following the abduction and suspected murder of their son Daniel in 2003. Mrs Morcombe said Day for Daniel was not a memorial day but a day of learning for children.

'Schools can participate in a variety of activities including a talk about internet safety in class, a presentation by a school-based police officer, completing an interactive educational program like "Being Safety Smart", watching our DVD titled Foundation Red or participating in a Community Walk,' she said.
