Special State Parliament broadcast

21 October 2009

Teachers and students can hear how the Queensland Parliament works when 612 ABC Brisbane broadcasts a special live program from the floor of Parliament House on October 23.

From 8.30am-11am, listeners can hear how Parliament works, what rules operate, what the role of the Speaker is, how politicians plan for Parliament and who decides what happens when.

The mock Parliament will include tracking a piece of legislation from the moment it is announced to when it becomes law.

More than 20 Queensland politicians, along with the Speaker, Clerk of Parliament, Hansard reporters, and a special panel of journalists will re-enact a morning of debate, information and entertainment.
