Transfer applications go online soon

An online process streamlining teacher transfers is planned for an April 30 launch in the latest stage of the Department of Education and Training's adoption of MyHR human resources technology.
Workforce Services executive director Rob Mander said once implemented, MyHR Recruitment's transfer section would prove a timesaver.
'Approximately 4,500 teachers apply for transfers annually and this requires many hours of manual processing,' Mr Mander said.
'Our goal is to manage these applications more efficiently and to make more effective staffing decisions which will benefit teachers, schools and students.
'With the new system, teachers will be able to start, save and resume working on transfer applications; submit applications to the principal online; and receive email correspondence about their application's status.
'Principals will be able to approve applications and submit them to the regional office online.
'HR staff will be able to undertake activities in real time within an interactive system, rather than point-in-time reports.'
Workforce Recruitment and Employment director Rynell Hastie-Burroughs said the fundamentals of the teacher transfer process were still the same and training demonstrations and quick reference guides would explain the online system to teachers, principals and HR staff.
'These demonstrations and guides are accessible online via the quick link to MyHR on OnePortal,' Ms Hastie-Burroughs said.
The introduction of MyHR Recruitment follows the upgrade in January of the Department of Education and Training's payroll system to MyHR Payroll, and MyHR Corporate Reporting is being deployed to schools by regional human resources managers.
'MyHR Recruitment is a good example of how the department is embracing technology,' Mr Mander said.
'This online teacher transfer process is the product of a dedicated and skilled project team working closely with the Information and Technologies Branch.
'The project team has built an innovative and intuitive web-based solution which includes employee self service, manager self service and correspondence via email.'
