Finding Queensland's finest

2009 winners ... (from left) Community Spirit Award winner Heather Nancarrow, Premier Anna Bligh, Suncorp Queenslander of the Year Jim Bellos, Young Queenslander of the Year Chia-Hing Chang and Suncorp John Story.

Whether it's helping out those in need, inspiring others, or accomplishing great things in sports, arts or science, Queenslanders around the state are making a difference.

And this year, as part of Queensland Week celebrations, we're asked to help find the Suncorp Queenslanders of the Year.

The awards recognise the accomplishments of Queenslanders from all walks of life, across a range of disciplines who have made a difference to their local community or to the state.

Nominations are open in two categories, Queenslander of the Year and Young Queenslander of the Year.

The Young Queenslander category is open to young people aged 16 to 25 at June 6 and the Queenslander of the Year category is open to people aged 26 and over.

Nominations close on April 23 and recipients will be announced during Queensland Week, May 29-June 6.
