Much Respect! Aimee Monement, Joseph Williams and Katie Johnston with Beenleigh State High School's yLead Community Leaders Award.
Beenleigh State High School is celebrating winning the inaugural yLead Community Leaders Award for its Respect! campaign.
The school has won $10,000 worth of yLead programs for the 2011 school year, as well as 20 passes to White Water World on the Gold Coast for students and teachers participating in the project.
Founded in 1989, yLead is an organisation which aims to inspire youth and create leaders of tomorrow with a vision for making a difference to the world.
It espouses the belief is that “leadership is any action that makes the world I touch a better place”.
Since 1991 yLead Australian Student Leadership Conferences have engaged thousands of young adults in leadership and personal growth development experiences.
Beenleigh State High and the other entrants and finalists in the inaugural Community Leaders Award were drawn from South-East Queensland schools attending the January 2010 leadership conference.
Going into its second year, the 2011 awards will open to all Queensland schools and not just those attending the January conference or working with yLead.
Visit the yLead website for details of the 2010 awards and winners, and the 2011 conference and awards program.
