Marking Indigenous milestone in schools
1 March 2011
A historic milestone has been marked in Queensland's recognition of Indigenous people.
The anniversary of the insertion of a preamble into the Constitution of Queensland formally recognising and honouring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Australians was February 28.
Schools can get involved in celebrating Indigenous culture and the anniversary with free resources available from the Queensland Government Bookshop: search for NAIDOC.
A range of resources for teachers, parents and students provide tips on how to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queensland, from growing native bush tucker to reading books by Indigenous authors.
