2011 Reconciliation Awards open

Nominations for the 2011 Queensland Reconciliation Awards are now open with a category this year especially for schools and other educational institutions.

Businesses, community organisations and projects paving the way for reconciliation in Queensland are also invited to nominate by the closing date of March 11.

Announcing the 2011 awards, Premier Anna Bligh said since its inception in 2003 the Reconciliation Awards had received overwhelming support.

'I am pleased to announce that this year, in addition to rewarding Queensland businesses and organisations, the awards are also open to nominations from schools and other educational institutions,' she said.

The awards offer total prizemoney of $25,000 across five categories: Business, Community Organisation, Education, Partnerships and the Premier's Reconciliation Award.

Winners will be announced at a ceremony during Reconciliation Week in May 2011.
