Trauma ... Teachers who lost resources in the floods can apply for a $2000 grant

State school teachers in Queensland's flood-affected areas are eligible to receive $2000 each to replace damaged or destroyed teaching resources.

The grant is an additional $1500 above the Department of Education and Training's standard $500 grant to replace teaching resources lost through flood or fire at their school.

Offered in response to the current crisis, the State and Federal Governments have partnered to offer the additional funding to help teachers buy curriculum-related resources such as reference texts, CDs, teacher-made resources, games and stationery.

Flood-affected state school teachers should phone the Department of Education and Training's senior facilities services officer, Resource Replacement Scheme, on 3235 4466 for more information on the grant and how to apply.

For information about health issues, special leave provisions and leave issues, employee support, hardship assistance, assisting with the cleanup, returning to the workplace and who to contact, staff should visit the Department of Education and Training natural disasters website.

For information on support for personal hardship due to the flooding, visit the Department of Communities website or phone 1800 173 349.
