Information sessions off to a flying start

23 June 2011

Information sessions begin this week to shed more light on the major education reforms announced by the Queensland Government to give children a flying start to the future.

The first information sessions will be held in Julia Creek and Mount Isa on Wednesday June 22, followed by sessions in Longreach and Emerald on June 23 and Roma on June 24.

In addition, on-air sessions will be hosted on June 23 from Mount Isa for the School of the Air and Longreach for the School of Distance Education.

Teachers, schools leaders, parents, carers and members of the wider community are invited to attend and learn more about the upcoming changes, including Year 7 becoming the first year of high school in 2015.

The information sessions will continue in metropolitan and regional locations throughout Term 3. More dates and locations will be announced soon.

Minister for Education and Industrial Relations Cameron Dick said he hoped to attend as many of the information sessions as possible.
