School leaders from throughout Queensland have gathered in Brisbane for their annual conferences.

The four professional associations - for primary, P-10/12, secondary and special school leaders - came together on Friday June 10 for a social evening with Education Minister Cameron Dick, celebrating principalship and acknowledging the great work principals undertake in Queensland schools.

The Queensland Secondary Principals' Association (QSPA) conference was held at the Brisbane Hilton from June 8-10 and has been hailed an outstanding success.

The event attracted the highest ever attendance of secondary principals and deputy principals from across the state.

At the same time, the Queensland Association of State School Principals (QASSP) and the P-10/12 Principals' Association were holding their combined conference at the Sofitel, and the Australian Special Education Principals' Association Queensland branch was meeting at the Novotel.

The secondary conference, on the theme Beyond 2020 - Vision, Leadership, Schooling, highlighted some of the latest research from Australia and overseas related to leading a successful secondary school in the 21st century.

Primary and P-10/12 leaders met under the banner Our Schools, Our Future, Our Lead, and were also challenged to find the best pathways for their schools and their students to succeed.

Internationally recognised speakers delivered thought-provoking messages at the conferences, focusing on the continued improvement of the education of the state's young people.
