QSA focuses on new education landscape

2 March 2011

The Queensland Studies Authority's (QSA's) 2011 conference will be held on April 27-29 with the theme 'Vision to reality: Queensland's new education landscape'.

The conference, at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, represents an important professional development and networking opportunity for all Queensland educators.

Participants will have the opportunity to discuss a wide range of current education issues across kindergarten-Year 12, with themes including the implementation of the Australian Curriculum, assessment literacy, quality teaching and school leadership.

Keynote speakers including Linda Darling-Hammond, Mick Waters and William McInnes will explore the education world, revealing their experiences, challenges, successful techniques and their perspective on the Australian Curriculum.

A list of featured speakers including John Irvine and Erica McWilliam will also conduct one-hour sessions focusing on educational issues and trends affecting all students.

The conference program includes more than 100 sessions, specialist forums, trade displays and networking. Extension sessions will run for two hours, providing participants with opportunities to improve their discipline knowledge and pedagogical skills, and learn about new resources as implementation of the Australian Curriculum approaches.

Principals and deputy principals will also come together at the Leadership in Education Forum, which last year attracted more than 400 participants discussing strategies for building and maintaining a focus on student achievement.

The 2011 conference promises to be even more successful than the last with over 2000 delegates expected to attend.
